ignition issue
I got an oldie but goodie, 1986 ranger with 156,000 4cyl, 5speed. I have to hold the key forward inthe ignition to keep the truck running. i replaced the ignition and key on the steering column but the new ignition key still has to be held forward to keep it runningjmgodshall@excite.com

Take the upper and lower halves off the column and find the ignition switch. See if the key is moving the switch enough. Make sure the switch is also adjusted correctly. You may be able to slide it up enough to fix the problem, or there may be a mechanical problem with the actuator rod.
