I was always a bit curious as to what the differences were EACH year from about 2000 through 2003.5? Are most ofthe differences in the interior of suspension or engine or differentiials or ????
I thnk the switch to the 6.0 was actually released as a 2003.25 model....as crazy as that sounds.
The actual differences between 99.5 and 03 are minimal. The earlier ones had headrests for the back seats. the 02 model moved the seatbelt shoulder straps from the B pillar (where they belong) to the seat backs. In 02 the 4x4 offroad package became the FX4 package with Rancho shocks. The Platinum edition was relaesed in 01, King Ranch in 02, and Harley in 03 I think.
Power production for 99-00 was 235 horse/505 torque. 01 had three power outputs: 250/505 for all automatics, and either 235/505 or 275/525 for the six speeds. All subsequent years of the 7.3 were 250/525 for the auto and 275/525 for the manuals.
There are bunches of minor changes I'm forgetting and all I did post may not be spot on accurate, but you get the idea.
Thanks Cookie! One of the thing you mentioned actually caught my eye. I have asked if there is a way to add the headrests to the back seats in my crew cab?? Why would they get rid of those as it would seem like a comfort/safety issue?
