Chassis Lube Question

I've been using Chevron Ultra Duty NLGI-2 grease on my ball joints, tie rod ends and universal joints. I've noticed a thin red fluid (the grease is red) dripping from the area of the zerk fittings on the tie rods. I also noticed a lot of the grease appears to be thrown out of the universal joints onto the under side of the truck. Anyone have a suggestion as to why?

To me the grease shouldn't be dropping it's oil like that. What grease basically is, is oil with a tackifier added. A lower quality grease will let the oil separate when it gets hot. As for the grease that's thrown out, could some of that be over greasing? That drive shaft does spin pretty fast, and if there's a small glob of it on the outside of the u-joint, it's going to get flung off.

I'd find a different grease. There are a number of good ones out there on the market. The one I use is Mystik Tetrimoly.

Maybe it is power steering fluid leaking down. I know that happens on my dads older trucks.
