It is not as tough as spray-on bed liner, but you can buy spray cans of undercoat that might work well for what you want to do ...... and they're cheap.

$400 for my Line X. Going to do my boat trailer this spring.for about $150. I don't know much about the cans, but if it's for undercoating, it will probably be worth it.But do the bed with a spray-in, you can't go wrong. Do all the prep work yourself to save some cash.
about 600 for my 05 .and they did all the sanding and prep work 1/4 inch thick all around . no problems at all .no over spray. they just did a great job and it took about 5 hours total time. i saw 3 guys sanding the paint for preprep and then 2 washed it down with acitone solvent and 1 sparyed it.
for bumpers and body you may want to talk to a body paint supply shop as there are paint products out for that purpose just they are clear and look better then bed liner looks like orange peel in the paint when dry
There's a product on e-bay that you can buy and do it yourself. It's a 2 part epoxy bedliner called Rattleguard. I just sprayed the interior of my cab on my 95 Powerstroke with that stuff and it's awesome! Kinda the pits to mix, and don't plan on your hands being clean for awhile afterwards! LOL
i know its old, but i want to do the bed in my truck and i have this lining called hippo coat. What is the process of painting the bed do i need to do all that sanding or what?
"A house is only as good as its foundation".
Rust for a foundation no thanks, why not do it right the first time.
Have it sand blasted, it's not that expensive, or maybe buy your own equipment and do it yourself. Again not that expensive unless you don't have a compressor. About a 2 hp is all you really need for a small job.
Just takes a little longer.
