Well I got her soundin alright straght piped, my compression worries me though. I know this truck was parked along time, will my compression raise a bit. I have had it running for twenty minutes at once.
I have 5 pistons around 75

I think this truck was once ran hot. I bought it with a leaking water pump and a broken temp. guage.
That is not good. I think the heads are warped. Does it get hot fast. is there coolant in the oil or white foam in the oil? That compression is low. If you put it in a truck it will take all it has to move the truck.
I would be tempted to look for a used FE engine, usually Amigos have something for $4-500. Maybe even a 302/351 or a 300-6 for today`s gas prices unless you want to stay fairly stock, which is nice as well. For a summer driver you may want something a little easier on fuel depending on how much you are going to drive it.
I lkike the sound of a 352/390 and don`t put that many miles on so it`s great even with the higher priced fuel.
I got the compression raise a bit in some piston (I've been putting every forgein liquid I can think of in desperate hopes incase of stuck rings). The original compression was supposed to be 140 I read.
The two big jumps were
one of the 10's came up to 26
one of the 75ish came close to 100
I'll see where I get to by Monday. I do have a pair of heads from another 352 and a 360. I know the 360 are good heads the 352 are questionable.
If I were to change the motor I would stick with a 352, maybe going to a 330, 360, 361, 390, 391, 428 etc.
The 428 is fairly rare and hard to find. There was a 65 Ford in last week`s Sask Auto Trader that the ad claimed had a 428.
I like the FE series of motors as well.
I was never a fan of 460's I don't know just why but I like my FE's 352, 360, 390, etc.
I really like that 352 I just can't believe though a engine that starts great and sounds the same has such crappy compression. It sounds just fine.
Maybe I should paint her up and just put it on the auction block.

I have been putting WYNN'S engine tune up, it comes in a old style tin can. It costs about 3.50 a can so it's cheap like borsche.
last test after using 3 cans
1 piston between 95-100
2 pistons at 95
2 pistons at 80
1 piston at 65
1 piston at 37
1 piston at 27
Condition upgrade to critical life threatning. But better if you compare the numbers you see.
2 pistons came up 20psi
1 up 13ish
2 up 10
1 up 5
2 same
Note: these numbers increase a bit with a few squirts of oil.
If the compression comes up with oil in the cylinder it usually means poor rings. In the case of a motor that has sat for awhile it can also mean stuck rings so I would drive it for awhile and see what happens.
