I have a major squeek come from my right rear of my 2004 SCREW. It happens when putting it in reverse and backing out of my driveway, it even happens when I get into my truck from the driverside, and I am not a heavy man. I have only 20k miles on my truck and its a city driver. Could this simply be a chassis lube issue?
Thanks
Steaks
I do not know of anywhere on the chassis that can be service lubed. I would take it back while under warranty to get repaired. It sounds like a bushing or something went bad. Good Luck!
THanks Rukus, I should have mentioned its going back in today. Is there anything else not related to the topic I should tell them to do? In other words flash the ROM, etc?
steaks, I always ask them to take the white lithium grease and lube the door, hood and tailgate hinges and latches. I don't think they do that unless you ask. It does not cost anything. Good Luck!
It sounds like the leaf springs. Mine did the same thing when I hit 20,000 miles. The put grease all over and between the leafs, it went away and came back. They ended up replacing them entirely. I just hit 38,000 miles and it is back. I bought some lithium grease in a spray can and greased them myself. It keeps the noise down some, but it is still there. The problem is the pads that keep the leafs from rubbing against each other wear out. My noise is not a squeak really, it is more like a clunk. It kind of sounds like I have an ice chest full of water with a few beers floating around in it hitting the ice chest. That is not the problem though because when I do have an ice chest with beer in it, the ice chest is full of ice and keeps them from moving around!
My annoying squeak was when going over subtle bumps. I heard it most while driving in the neighborhood. It went away when I sprayed some WD40 on the tailgate hinges.
