How much of pain is it to change? I have a 97 sport....my w/w,and turn signals are cutting out intermittantly and I get a buzzing noise once in awhile....any help will be appreciated, thanks! mike
easy to do, after market from local parts store was cheaper... took me about 45 minutes, but a lot of that was due to the cold and the dark when I did it (flashlight holding adds time to these things). See the following thread for more details: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s....php?p=3211791
I am not very mechanically inclined but I just changed my Multifunction Switch yesterday and it was one of the simpliest things I have ever done.
I went to the Ford Dealer and was charged $60 for a new one. I went home and took of the plastic covers that go over the steering column and removed the tilt wheel lever and the multifunction switch was right there. Unscrewed the 2 screws using a #20 star bit and unplugged the electrical connectors in the switch and put in the new switch in the exact reverse order of the way I took apart.
Took me a total of 20 minutes and I have never took apart the plastic covers around my steering column.
Veryyyyy easy to do.
I have a 96 and was having the same problems. Before you change the MFS take a look at the relays. Switch the relays around to see if the problem goes away or changes to something else. That was the problem on mine they were only 12.00. You can check the MFS with an ohms meter once it is out, the specs are in the haynes manual. It is a simple job to remove it & check it.
