Remember many things can be used for the mold. The first article talks about plaster but anything that will take the heat and hold up under vacuum can be used. Even old interior panels can be used. Just remember the molded part is bigger or smaller than the mold depending on whether you molded to the outside or inside of the mold.

Hmmm... I think the door panel is functionally a nice cover, but after telling me about the dash being painted from the back side, I can tell it has some depth affect, or at least appears to... how does it look when sitting in the cab? I like it.
Is that a horshoe door handle?

Yeah, painting it from the back side definately gives it depth, especially from in the cab looking straight at it. And yes, it's a horse shoe. Ths stock handle was dangerous without the arm rest, and the horse shoes were just sitting on the work bench. Seemed like a logical choice.
There is a special paint for plastic that remains flexible that is available in a wide variety of colors from hobby shops. It is used to paint RC car and truck bodies.
Hmmm good ideas. i remember I've got a can of stuff you dip tool handles in and it provides a gripable rubber lik coating. have to experiment with it, hope it's ford blue.
i showed the pic to my wife and pointed out the horseshoe... she said men are crazy so you got my seal of approval for sure since it passed the things that men do factor.
