I'm wondering if this is a local phenomenon, or country wide: It seems like every time I've got some jerk riding my tail, using a turn-only lane to pass me, cutting across a 4 freeway lanes bombing for his exit or doing 50 past me through a 20mph school zone, it's a BMW 325i. 9 times out of 10*. Is there something about the 325i or the way it's marketed that attracts aggressive-to-the-point-of-reckless drivers?
*If it's not a 325i, it's a 330i or Audi A4.

I was going to say it's not just your area, but then I looked to see where you live. Boston's about the only place I see lots of cars that pricey, so all I can do is confirm that it's true in your (our) area.

they are nothing mroe than a honda accord in europe, funny how everyone here thinks they are a "luxury" car. my friend has an audi a4? and it doesn't even have a cup holder!
i just think its something about people and small cars they think are fast, i had 2 kids tailgating me and i had to do a nice brake tap for them, then go out of my way on the whole rest of the winding 2 lane making sure they don't pass me(love the 6.0 power!)
My A4 has cup holders, but I don't drive it the way you are describing. (I do drive it too fast, but I don't cut across 5 lanes and tailgate and all that other fatal accident causing stuff...)
I have noticed for years the 3 series BMW tends to draw the poor driving manners crowd. I always ask a BMW owner if they got the notice of the recall....they get all excited....I tell them it's for the signals and a stuck throttle, and that every BMW must be affected as they are all screaming down the road going from lane to lane w/o signals... I have few friends with BMW's...IDGAS.
Now a while back someone had a post about what kind of cars morons drove....I guess it was pulled. I started thinking about this when driving, and 9 out of 10 morons that I had to deal with were...uh..., eehhhh, well, uh,

Back in California, it was the same exact story. I've gotten to the point where after about 4 years of driving in the Bay Area, I HATE BMW's.

Nobody buys them here in Texas (thank god).
Figured out how to chap one of those guys royally. I was in the Marines at Pendelton from 88-92. Had a blue 70 Chevelle (ok guys don't lynch me now ) with a 402 Rat and 273 rear gears. You could time it with an hourglass but it would top in like the Millineum Falcon........
Anyway I had this guy in a BEEMER tailgaiting me at about 03:00 in the morning on my way to the airport in San Diego (on my way home on leave). I let him go around me then snuggled in behind him. Last I looked before he got off his exit, we were both doing about 140, and it pissed him off to NO end that his little German farfegnuegen couldn't outrun 4 tons of AMERICAN iron........He was maxed out............I still had a thousand raps to go on the tach........

I know what you mean - but it ain't the car (I happen to like Beemers)... But unfortunatley the clientel that they attract.
Same thing - I love Ferrari's. Am yet to find a Ferrrari owner who I even felt I could have a conversation with...
Yes, they are excellent cars, the BMWs and the Audis. I almost bought an A4 myself a few years ago. I wasn't saying all BMW or Audi drivers are aggressive jerks, but rather that aggressive drivers seem to favor the entry-level BMWs as their driving weapon of choice.
