I have a 2003 7.3 (one of the last 7.3's built). I have done the 10K mod and have the AEM Brute force air intake and I have the oil pressure cross over mod. I plan to tow my boat (6K) to Lake Powell this summer (2,000 miles from Seattle one way). I do not race my truck and tow my boat about twice a month upwards of 120 miles each time. So I am looking at only using the TOW mode. I have been looking at DP-Tuning and the Edge products. I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I pull the 10K mod if I go with a chip or programmer? Currently when towing hard, my engine light comes on which from what I recall is normal with the 10K mod.
2. What is the difference between using the Edge Evolution that uses the OBD II port to get more HP and torque and the EZ that plugs into the ICP sensor that also gets more HP and torque? I'm leaning to the Evolution so I can read codes I may throw but probably will not use the other 2 program mods.
3. I have stock exhaust (Can't afford/justify 4" exhaust yet) BUT I plan to install the egt sensor.
You can't go wrong there!! I think you are going to want to upgrade your exhaust - especially towing - or your Exhaust Temps are going to be out of hand.... Definitely get an EGT gauge - even towing with your 10k may get your egt's too high....
