few kinks in the system need help?
I have a 69 302 2bbl system in my 82 f-150. It was transplanted there by a PO. I believe this motor has never been rebuilt. Just the standard addons water pump, fuel pump, distributor,carb rebuild and so on. When i first got this truck it had a rough misfire. Also it had some sludge in the oil.The timing was out of whack so i set it and it was good for a bit. Now it has a rough idle that wants it to die. I set the idle screw up so it would stay running. It is running very rich now! I changed the oil and have not seen the sludge on the dipstick again. I do have ALOT of condensation coming out of the exhaust. And occasionaly a puff or two of white smoke. You think head gasket or crack somewhere? Or something else? I also need to replace the fuel pump it loses its prime after a few days of sitting. Could that cause the rough idle? It runs decent for a two barrel at cruising speeds. This is not a daily driver. Thank you in advance!
