Well I got it home, Now to figure out what it is.
I purchased a 71 F250 from buddy as a doner truck. The vin runs out as a 390 motor. The thing is, it has a 4bbl cast iron manifold on it.
The casting number is C1AE9425B. It has an oil filler tube in the intake manifold right in front of the #1 intake runner. I have not came accross one these before. The engine runs great and seems a little too snappy for your run of the mill 390.
The history of the truck is a little thin. It was told to me that the original 390 was pulled due to the lack of pulling torque. Which I have the same problem in HEFTY (F350 390/2bbl) The goal here is to swap engines. But I would like to know what I am putting under the hood.
Where can I look up this casting number? Has anyone seen an oil fill tube in a 390 intake?
Hope you pro's can point me in the right direction. Thanks.
The number sounds like a 61-2 Galaxie engine. If you can pull the starter, check the casting code above it on the side of the block. If it's a C1 code too, then that's probably where it came from.

I'm not a pro but Im into 390s and my buddy has a yard
full of fe's, If it is what I think, it has no pcv on
the valve covers, probaly a fomoco double pumper carb,
cause the 390 in the 64 montclair has c4 ae on it,
so c1 would be 61,the engine is from a car since 390
didnt get into trucks that early, c1ae on the heads?
335hp, and 425ftlb torque, unless its got cast irony shorty
headers that might make a difference
