will dirty maf sensor set off the check engine light?
im having problems with what i think is a dirty maf sensor caused by the oil from a kan and n oil cone filter.the truck a 2001 edge 4x4 king cab 4.0 auto has a stumble while at cruising speed with the accelerator barely depressed.
i tried cleaning it with some throttle body cleaner with some small results...
maybe i need to try cleaning it again...new one for this truck is almost 200 bucks lol..any help would be appreciated...and the check engine light never came on and there are no codes stored in the puter....and anyone have any secrets on changing the back sparkplug on the passenger side was looking at that one and it looks impossible to reach it
I think the electronic portion of the unit is sealed to the point where no cleaner can get in. Some cleaners could cause damage to the flexible diaphram. If anything, try electrical contact cleaner.
A faulty MAF can cause lean codes, and sometimes rich codes. However, unless the electronics to the unit are messed up, the MAF will not throw a code indicating that it has failed.
the fuel filter is about 4 months old. had to replace the fuel lines a while back the guy that had the truck before me,i bought it from a dealer with 13500 miles on the clock, cut the original Ford clamps off on the fuel lines and had replaced them with screw type clamps. ughhhh cost 500 bucks to replace all the fuel lines. think they have a gold lining in them. But i bought a motorcraft filter today and a set of plugs and wires,(also motorcraft) and if it ever stops raining here ill replace all of them too.got 62000 on the clock,i know ford says 100,000miles for plugs but cant believe they can last that long.lol.anyway thanx for the help
