Looks pretty simple to do... 6637 is the part number for the filter, correct? What brand and where can I get it at? Thanks

hi guys.

I have a question about that filter setup. I just installed something like that on my PSD. I bought a kit from ebay with the aluminum pipe and a K&N filter. I probably won't use the K&N for long(really should have made my own aluminum pipe). Anyway... I see that you have the orange silicone boot attached to the turbo. I just had to replace my UVC harness and had to remove the orange hose. It had a 2.5" hole in it, at the bottom. Not good... Good thing I don't drive on dirt roads.... It appeared that the oil coming from the breather sit's in the low spot of the boot and deteriorated it. when I ordered parts for my valve cover I ordered the boot from Ford. I asked the price and it was 115.00! I almost S*IT my pants! My wife picked up the parts and when I got home I had this BOX about 12" long, 6" tall, and 6" deep. I thought WTF?!? "I told her to take the old part with her to match it up!". I opened the box and found a plastic tube about 3" long, a different bracket to mount to the valve cover, a new plastic/rubber tube that goes from the new 3" tube to the turbo. I almost went crazy cause I needed that part to get back on the road. I put 2 and 2 together and figured Ford must have had an addendium to that part(can you say recall?)... just like the airbox lid and screws. The new part is much better than the old with the exception of the "plastic" 3" tube... the old one is aluminum.

This bring up a question... since oil is being re-circulated into the engine from the breather into the turbo, what can I do to eliminate the breather setup? I have an intercooler and the oil in there is reducing the heat exchanging ability of the intercooler. I thought I has read here some time ago about an oil separater that could be installed. I read the post about the guy who installed a hose onto the breather and ran it into the exhaust. I don't like this idea at all! What other options are there?

Do you all notice MUCH more whistle with the air cleaner setup the way you have it? I drove into work today and it was noticeably LOUDER than before. Not sure I like it, but what the hell.. I think I am going to add the baldwin filter which is much larger than the K&N. I don't see anymore black smoke that usual with this new filter so it must not be to restrictive. Can't say there is less either. The chip I have has always smoked when slightly goosing it on the freeway then clears up.

I don't know if it's a common problem. I just know that part is changed from the original I had on my ride. The new one is definatly better, just don't like the new 'non-aluminum" tube. The old one won't fit on the new tube to the turbo

It is a change up, least on the E-series van power strokes I know for sure, myself I have seen this and changed out 3 complete setups to these plastic abortions from ford cause the orange tube deteriates at the bottom. The hose from what I understand can be braught into a heavy truck shop and could match something up to it cause that size is used on many heavy truck but FORD is just being **** about this piece.

To re-comfirm, I've seen this on 3 powerstrokes in the E vans and my truck as well, same thing but its split in the same direction as the hose clamp is on and in the middle of that hose clamp so I've still been running it latly cause its still tight but knowing I have to get off my lazy **** and pick up a new one with out that ford change up plastic thing
