27x850x14...do you get the size thing? 27" tall 8 1/2" wide fitting your 14" wheel? trust me it's bigger and wider than what you have on your truck now, it would really give your truck a little bigger look......I checked your pix, nice truck.....man I need to set something up to post picks off all 5 of my Rangers.
Waves...thanks for your help. I went to search for the 27 x 8.5 x 14...worked fine except there's nothing even CLOSE to 8.5 in the middle box on the Discount Tire site. I'm gonna check other sites.
Ahh...that makes sense lol. I see a lot of complaints of tire noise, but I figure that's probably exaggerated, and my radio or exhaust can drain it out. Prices aren't as bad as I expected.
I think if I were you, I would hit the boneyards, and find me 4 nice ford 15" mags off of a ranger, or explorer, and be done with it. Then you could get some BFG at ko's 30/9.50-15's, with a leveling kit, you'ld be in there. 14's is allways going to be a pain in the butt, they are oddballs now days, and tire avalability is limited.
Yeah Zach, I sorta got a hold of your vision for your truck in my head. Those 14's are gonna be a hassle to get that look your shooting for. Why waste a 2" lift kit if the tallest tire you can get in a 14 is 28"'. That lift will easily let you run a 30" tire, so why not take full advantage of the lift. On my journey's to the boneyard, I've seen some nice wheels on raagers, and explorers, I'm pretty sure jeep shares the same bolt pattern, at least they use to. You may even be able to swap your rims for them, at least trade them in, they could help reduce the cost. A 2" lift, a set of BFG all terains, duel exhaust, hurst shifter, your trucks gonna be so sweet. I am excited as if it were my truck ha ha.
The 4:10's really shouldn't hurt gas mileage that bad with the 31's. My 88 Ranger 4x4 has the 2.9L with 31's and 4:10's and I was 20 mpg city with a dirty air filter.
you did not get no 20 mpg bass. that truck was lucky to get 1 mpg all the times we had to leave the store creeping because you said it drank so much gas LOL
I did when I got the new transmission put in. I got 240 miles to 12 gallons of gas do the math. I was still getting around 10 mpg when I had the busted overdrive and went muddin every night.
FWIW:
A 7" rim width is recommended by tire manufacturers for a 31x10.50 tire size.
The later model Ranger FX4s with (stock) 31" tires have 7" wide rims and 4:10 gears.
i saw this thread and laughed, rangerpilot switched to a exploder some time ago and as far as i know never did lift his ranger, it did get a 302 before he got rid of it. i dont recall what he ever did as far as rims. i know his hurst never came through, just as well , he changed transmissions with the 302 swap, probly had a T5. makes me wonder what my old '88 looks like now, i havent seen it in awhile, might be a squrriel house in some junkyard by now.
