Wondering if anyone has a simple solution to my traction troubles.......
I have '91 F150 2WD 351W C6 fitted with extended chassis, lazy axle and 5 ton airbag over leafspring rear suspension.
I am currently running open (single spinner) diff and can't stop drive wheel from spinning - lazy axle is carrying too much of the load. Isn't too bad with load on tray but unloaded, or even worse, with my 2 1/2 ton boat behind I am unable to accelerate on wet roads, up inclines or even pull empty trailer up boat ramp!
Looking at putting onboard electric compressor with four solenoids to transfer more weight onto drive axle while stopping transfer of air between sides and if this fails to fix problem, followed by air locker.
We Aussies don't have quite the range of suppliers you guys do and most want one arm, both legs and your firstborn for a handful of junk secondhand parts, so I'm trying to solve this properly the first time!
Any suggestions?
im confused...when you say lazy axle do you mean you added another axle in the rear with no drive? or do you mean you have an open diff and one tire is spinning?
