Hello fellas first let me say that I'm new to this Forum and after reading some post think its awesome.
Here's where I need ya'lls help:
I got a Ford F-150 2003 and the Right blinker blinks twice as fast in the dash. Went and bought some new bulbs thinking that was the problem. Checked the bulb and its fine, also tryed the new one and the blinker still doesnt work and blinks fast. Checked all the fuses and their all good.
I was reading some other trends and they said to check the multi-function switch.. which I have no clue how to do
Tried to go buy a technical manual and they dont have any for this year, guess its too new....go figure
Anyways can any of you help me...dont want to spend 100 bucks just to have it inspected at the dealer
Sorry, could not resist. Usually that means that one of the front or rear turn signal bulbs is bad. When the multi-function switch dies, nothing blinks.
And you replaced the right rear bulb? Try switching bulbs with the left rear and see if the problem switches sides. If not I would guess there is something wrong with the wiring, a chaffed wire somewhere.
Sorry I can't be more help
My truck does the same thing but only occasionally it is the multi function switch in my case. I am not sure how to fix as yet. do a search on here for multi function switch or turn signals and I am sure you will find some info
I Have a 98 F-150 mine also did do that on and off for a while the way i fixed it is i pulled apart the steering coloum and cleaned the wires that pluged into my swithch hope that this helps you out
It is possilbe that there is a dirty contact in the multifunction switch. When I first got my truck, it would do that, only on right turns, after several weeks it started to work fine. Maybe burned off some of the dirt???? If it is not the miltifunction switch it could be the socket for the bulb, or the wiring.
is the multifunction switch uder the dash by the steering coloum, cause my 97 250 ld for some reason the blinkers all work fine unless i step on the breaks thenm they quit flashing no matter if it's hazzard or turn still does it, checked relay under dash stuck new on in it and still did it, my other i dea is that someone hooked the break controller up wrong cause it has one of those too, but checked the wireing and i can't tell lol so i thought maybe the multifunction switch might not be the same one i checked?
It is the wires in the tilt steering wheel, I have an 03 fx4 and after towing a friends trailer my right blinker started flashing super fast and i changed the bulb and the same problem. I blamed my friend and his crap trailer for shorting out my truck. This was not making sense until I was driving with the wheel tilted up and problem solved, tilted down all the way blinking fast, I know it is something inside the column loose, i just haven't had time to fix yet, I'm guessing loose connection or fraid wire. When i fix i can let you know what i found but for now the wheel stays in the middle not all the way down. I didn't tell my friend yet cause he'll just say it's a ford.
I had the exact same symptoms on my 97 Mustang GT. The next time it starts blinking real fast like that "wiggle" the button that is for the 4-ways, see if any change. A new multi-fuction switch solved the problem for me. About 75 bucks at NAPA, not hard to do, if I remember once you get to the switch, the whole thing is just held in place with 3 or 4 screws. My 98 F-150 looks like about the same switch. Remember you are working around the steering column, so read up on the procedure before you do it,(air bag is right there). As the others said, make sure all bulbs are good and in place, before replacing the multi-function switch. Good Luck......
