302 harmonic balancer?
Hey All,..............great site!
I have a 1970 f-100 with a 302 in it. About six months ago I replaced the motor with a remanufactured 302. After getting it all back together I tried to set the timing and found the marks on the harmonic balancer would not come close to lining up with the pointer,so I timed it by ear and it runs great. However, are the balancers interchangable with other motors? If so what damage can the wrong balancer cause to the motor.

the balancers from 80 or 81 up are not balanced the same or fly wheels wrong year and you have deadly vibrations for yuor rotating asembly i sugest check your block for numbers all are neer the freez plugs c- is for 60.s d is for 70.s e is for 80.s and so on
