I was searching the Internet and came across a Motorcraft Web site that has a spreadsheet that one can use to find the lastest PCM tear tag for Ford products. My 02 7.3 currently has tear tag VDH2 on the PCM. From the spreadsheet I was able to find that my latest tear tag is NWM0. The Web page with the link to the spreadsheet clearly explains the process of navigating the spreadsheet to find the lastest code for your PCM. There are no explainations of the differences between code versions. Doesn't appear one can attach spreadsheets here and I wasn't sure if one could post such a link on this site.
I found Ford TSB 02-24-4 that applies to an transmission shift issue with my 02 F250. The solution is to upgrade PCM code to NWM0 to resolve the issue. I just purchased my truck from a Ford Dealer who offered a 3 year 75K mile powertrain warranty. I'm waiting to hear from them to see if they would cover the PCM upgrade under the warranty.
