Everywhere I look I see stars....
No, I didn't just bang my head on the underside of the hood! I mean *AEROstars*!! Lately everywhere I go, I see Aero's! Driving in front of me, behind me, parked in parking lots, in people's driveways....they are everywhere!! Any body else having the same phenomenon?? BTW, most also have the same problem mine has, rust cancer of the lower panels! One shorty I saw, the lower panels were not even there anymore! Just jagged, rusty metal that started 1/3 of the way up the body of the van!!

There are less then 10 aeros here in Lugansk, and I can see Gaselles, Merecedes 100D (Vito, Viano) and Sprinters everywhere... All the aeros here were welded (lover panels were repeared ore replaced) and repainted. It seems to my my van is the last, that was non repainted, but I want to do it. Here it costs $600-1200. How expensive it in the USA?

Cowgirl,
an Aero will never be mistaken for a '69 Corvette
they tend to stand out in the crowd
Pablo,
$1200>$2000 for a quality metal flake paint job with clear coat, body dings removed, full sanding, masking, door openings painted, heat light curing
Aeros are beautiful in a pearl large fleck metallic with those large painted panels and at least 2 clear coats on top
how are the Sprinters w Mercedes diesels holding up on the Ukrainian roads and winters?

Yeah I always thought a good metal flake paint job was the best until I had a talk with a car painter that had been in the business 60 years.
He said that is the worst thing you can do to your car. The metal flake heats up from the sun and burns the paint around the flake. In two to three years the paint job will loose it's shine because of the burned paint. You'll see black lines form around the flake.

At the dealership we don't see Aerostars very often anymore but I worked on 1 this morning and then this afternoon I worked on a 1928 Essex with an Aerostar 3.0L and A4LD in it. The owner had even grafted most of the Aerostar dash into it. It was pretty cool
Unfortunately I forgot my camera but if he brings it back again I'll try to get some pictures.

I just got back from Oceana NAS in VA where I picked up Ordinance Attachments for the Armament options on an F-14D Tomcat I'm working on. It was a load with launch rails, adapters and so forth for Sparrow & Sidewinder systems. About 1200 lbs.
Powers that be up there were dumbfounded I made the 1800 mile round in my trusty 93 XLTN 4.0-AWD with a quarter million miles on an original OEM Equipped powertrain and body. As usual I had a great trip once again. . . . .that's part of why it has the huge mileage . . . . now if I can eliminate that stupid clockspring system and move my CC controls to an other location than the leaky Strg Wheel, I could have Cruise, less blinking lights in my warning array panel & even add a genuine Wood Steering wheel, That would be Special, doncha See /

Aerostars are disappearing fast here in Swisscountry. Technical state inspection is mandatory every 2 years and they are extremely strict, especially about wet oil spots around the engine and transmission. Repairs are (like everything else here) extremely expensive so many Aerostar owners give up and get something new to avoid further hassle. Let's see how long I can hold on....My rear engine seal seems to leak and I might get the boot when going for inspection in November. Lower panel starts rusting like crazy so I'll have to do something about it as well.

mo' stars
Funny how you notice other vehicles after you buy one of them. I just bought my 92 star two months ago. Before then I can't remember even noticing them on the road, much less tell you what brand they were. Now I notice every star on the road..and there are lots of them. I'm looking at every one of them to see if'n they have back seat buckets. I'd say 1/ 30 spottings have back seat buckets.
