I just got a recall reminder from FoMoCo for my Bronco speed control switch.
I read it is a serious matter.
Anybody have any problems before or after the fix?

IIRC it had something to do with the cruise control, and how by pressing on the break it turns it off. The switch/harness piece that is on some Broncos at the end of the master cylinder with the two wires coming off it is the culpret...I think???
I replaced it all at my expense many months ago. Cheap insurance. Last week the Ford service manager said bring receipt, they will reinburse me and enter in the computer it has been done. He said "If pressure switch is leaking they replace it and add a fuseable link but if it is not leaking they just add the fuseable link". Brake fluid leaking past a membrane into the switch may start fire. The fuseable link will blow before starting a fire now if the membrane fails. Power is always on through this switch thus the horror stories of burning down homes. IMO newer models are more likely to have the problem but I think everyone should do the recall if you qualify.
Thanks for the info, I was wondering if power is supplied only if the speed control was being used. I guess electricity is always there. I will schedule an appointment asap.
I really do not want to lose my Bronco!

If you think you will lose sleep just disconnect the plug from the switch screwed into the top of the master cylinder. Your speed control will not work but it totally eliminates the possibility of it causing a fire until you can get to the dealer.

Power is supplied to the switch all the time. The picture below is the new pressure switch Ford is using, I upgraded the pressure switch myself back when I first herd about the problem. Ford performed the recall yesterday by installing a new wiring harness with a inline fuse going to the pressure switch. I will try to post a picture of the harness with the inline fuse today.
