how do i know if my regulator is working correctly? the one shown below is the one i have on the truck.
i'm trying to find my high idle problem; there are no vacuum leaks other than the one coming from this vacuum regulator. i need to know if this specific one HAS to hold vacuum, or bleed vacuum. i'm trying to isolate every component first and check them off the list. this one vacuums out BUT it will not HOLD vacuum when i attach my vac pump to the bottom nipple. this is the nipple that is connected directly to the vacuum source on the motor (intake manifold)
the one below i grabbed from the junk yard and DOES hold vacuum. but it has a differant connector and most likely from a newer vehicle. this one holds vacuum but slowly bleeds out.
they both still have their filters still intact, although they're pretty easy to destroy being so old.
