outfitting mark lt and 02 hd

Hello all I just got a Mark Lt yesterday and need some advice on what i can do for blueprint and file storage. I searched the forums and decided to go with the extang rt bed cover and a drop in liner(any comments before i buy would be greatly appreciated, general consences is that the extang is rated better than the other one that starts with an A *brainfart*). I also have an 02 Harley that needs blueprint/file storage, that vehicle already has an ARE cap with no liner. Right now my blueprints are a mess and that truck is a disgrace, if i could just get it organized in both trucks it would make a heck of an improvement.

Do you mean files as in customer files and records? If so I was an over the road salesman for automotive shop equipment for years and I used plastic crates from any office supply place. The green file hangers fit right in them and manilla file folders fit in those just like in a file cabinet. I had four stacked in the rear as I had the rear seat up. That held hundreds of files. I needed the bed open to deliver equiptment. I hope that helped.

I have to tell you my last truck had a drop in bed liner and I hated how everything slid around in the bed. Of course you can partitian the bed with boards or load locks, but they will still move a little. On my 05 I went with a spray in liner, not Rhino. I dont have anything against Rhino, just got a good deal on a differant brand. I'm sure most of them are the same stuff. Nothing slides around in it and I havent scratched thru it yet. I cant remember the name....something like Perma-Tech I think.

Your probably thinking of Access for the bed cover. I havent heard anything bad about them. I use an Xtang cover and once a bow popped out, no big deal. There are many differant brands to chose from. We sell lots of Xtang and Access, and a few other one's I cant think of right now at 1:30 am lol.

I would say give the spray in some consideration. Xtang or Access will give you good service for the cover.

I dont carry many 8 1/2 x 11 invoices many more 24 x36 blueprints. The 8 1/2 x 11 get by with a couple of accordian folders but i do like the ide of the crates. I was hoping maybe someone has something available for the interior ceiling rail system in the lincoln that can hang blueprints from, but it could get to heavy i do not know how that is anchored and what to.

I thought about the spray-in and alway hated the drop-ins. However on top of the drop-in i am going to get a rubber mat i was really just using the drop in as protection against anything that the rubber doesnt cover. I cant really go with an all out spray-in liner due to this being a lease vehicle. The 02 harley however has tons of scratches in the bed and i would consider doing the spray-in on that if it will just fill in those scratches like i think it would.

Thank you for the quick responses i bellong to many other forums and it is never this fast at all!

If you go with a drop in liner the dealer is goin gto see the paint rubbed off on every high point of the bed that meets the liner. It wont be rusting (because of constant rubbing) but it will require the bed be completely repainted to sale unless the bedliner is left in. The spray in liner will seal the bed surface and will not allow the paint to be removed. When you trade the lease truck back in they would see a slightly blemished spray in liner that still looks great...and it can touched up from the installer shop any time if you find a way to rip a chunk out of the material. I would ask the dealer if the sprayed in liner is allowed....especialy if its color matched to the trucks paint. I can't understand why they would rather have a bed thats dented and scratched from no liner....or a bed that has major paint damage from a slip in liner. I prefere a slip in liner myself, and my thought is that the very best would be a spray in liner for paint protection, and a slip in plastic liner over top for dent protection. That is the ultimate protection.

If you put in a sray in liner then a drop in liner, you would still have junk flying around your bed. I guess you could do a spray in, a drop in, and then a rubber mat over top! lol Have you considered an Excursion? There are still a few out there.

its a lease. im confused. its ok thank you for the help. I think a spray in liner is great although i have no experience with either or right now i just ordered an extang r/t low profile hook and loop (i love how they have a fancy way of saying velcro) and a rubber mat and tail gate cover. I still dont know what to do about the blueprints but maybe your on the right track with the excursion. I only need one truck for hauling material around and the other for although paper work its just what if im dropping material off and need to get a paper thats in the other truck... maybe ill just use the file cabinet idea for small papers and set up the laptop in the truck with autocadd and just use that for reading blueprints.

So your telling me that the leaser (Dealer) has actually told you that a spray in bed liner is not allowed by the rules of the lease, yet use of the bed is allowed? Use of the bed will result in dents and scratches. A slip in bed liner will result in at least a total repaint required for the bed unless the liner is left in....and in that case, why not just have the spray in liner left in? Something does not sound right here.....Im thinking you need to call that dealer again and verify what you think about the lease rules relating to a spray in bed liner that will only enhance the truck and increase the resale value.
