Installed my HPX stainless steel line from KCM Diesel yesterday, just finished a 350 mile trip. Got to admit I was disappointed for awhile. Couldn't tell any improvements at all. After 50-60 miles I noticed a much quieter idle. Even my skeptic wife admitted it was less engine noise at idles and slow speeds. I even have her convinced that the muffler delete quietened the cabin down.
I am 20-30 miles into mine, thanks for the positive vibes. cause I was ready to mail the bit%$ back.
You guys installing the stainless steel HPX hard line, be sure to tighten those fittings down tight. I was afraid to tighten them way down, and lost about 3 quarts of oil on a 4 mile test drive (mashing on it a few times) I pretty much under-coated the truck with engine oil... And it wasn't leaking at idle before I left, so I thought I was safe
Installed that HPX line tonite. It was not the "Piece of Cake" that I was lead to believe.
But, I do have to say one thing, it sure quieted down old #8. The idle smoothed right out and I noticed that the oil pressure seemed more steady. The gauge did not move up as the RPM did before the install. Actually, the pressure looks better.
Now, If I can just find out why every once in a while, it will just die or stumble. I have replaced the CPS twice and the problem is still there.
Regarding the straight pipe, she is just going to have to learn to live with it. Gotta have the passenger window cracked or down and the rear slider opened. I love to hear that turbo sing. Now, to figure out how to make it whistle louder when I get on it.
Well - you already have Banks intercooler tubes and a '99 compressor wheel. I think the only step left is a BB turbo. Be prepared to part with some $eriou$ ca$h, though.
