I am sure that this has already been beaten to death but......
I have a '93 F-350 Crew cab and the black trim on the front and rear bumpers, look as good today as they did when I bought the truck, nice, still black and not worped out of shape.
I also have a '04 F-250 and the black trim turns grey and the side rails are wavy and look like crap.
I have tried several products that help for a while but soon the black trims on the '04 will turn grey and need more attention to brighten.
Looks to me the plastic that Ford uses now is cheap.
Any good product out there that works better than another. Am presently using Meguires rubber and plastic trim protectant.
My dad used to use a product called Back to Black on any exterior plastic trim that would fade or get white from wax residue. It worked wonders, I haven't seen any of it in a while though, might try a parts house or web search.
Tried the "back to black" was not impressed at all.......one week and gone
And when it rained the truck had strecks down the side....
So far the Meguires is holding up the best, but still gets strecks when it rains.
The Meguiars is my best suggestion. Use their professional version #49 Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner/Protectant. I would then use their Trim protectant or Endurance products for a long lasting finsih.
