I am getting ready to install the 429 in my 55. I have the midfifty 429/460 engine x-member and was wondering what engine mounts to use. any suggestions?
If the crossmember is for your specific application, a 429/460, then those would be the mounts to use. I don't know what else you would use. This is for a stock front end, correct?
correct, I was just wondering if there was a motor mount that I could pick up at NAPA (or another local parts place) that would work instead of ordering from mid fifty and witing for delivery and paying shipping
If you are looking for the mounts that bolt to the engine block and then bolt to the crossmember, then you should be able to get those from almost any parts store.
They will probably ask what car this is for, to which when you explain to them your situation, they will just get a dumb look on their face. I would have to believe that all of the 429/460 motor mounts are the same, regardless of what the engine came out of, but I could be wrong.

The mounts to use probably are from a 70's Lincoln or truck, sorry,I get CRS once in a while and it has been 15 years since I built the car.I have the ones that have a long 5 or 6 inch 7/16 or 1/2 bolt that goes through them in my 29 Ford with a 460 V8.
You bolt the mounts to the block, make tabs to fit each end of the mounts, these are shaped like a triangle with the tops rounded. You bolts these to the mounts. Then you will have to plate the inner part of the frame where you will mount the piece that the two tabs will be welded to. The beauty of it is that you can position these tabs at any angle and mount the plates where the engine sets best in your truck.Sorry I can't be more specific but I hope you get an idea of what I'm saying. If you want to know more give a holler.
Sorry I didn't remember you had a crossmember,I didn't use one,my frame rails are plated and the pieces of channel are welded to the plates and then when you position the mounts with the triangle pieces where you want them, down on the channel, you then can weld them in place. There is no crossmember under my engine.
