i recently swapped a zf into my truck. the trans has 150k miles on it and shifts good with dino Dex3 atf i have in there now. i want to put some synthetic fluid in there. i plan on running either amsoil ATF or MTF.
ATF has a Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C of 7.5
MTF has a Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C of 9.6
here in cleveland our temps range from 0º to 90ºF
the truck is a daily driver but sometimes gets loaded up to about 2 tons in the bed.
Which one would you recommend?
the little tag on the fill plug said type H fluid, i've never heard of that.

I'd go with Mobil 1 ATF personally, but since you asked about the two Amsoil products, I'd opt for the ATF, not the MTF.
Also, fwiw, here's a little history on Type H ATF:
Some Ford automatic transmissions manufactured after 1980 require the use of DEXRON III/MERCON or Ford Type H Fluids (Ford specification M2C166-H). (DEXRON is a registered trademark of General Motors. MERCON is a registered trademark applied by Ford to fluids meeting the Ford WST-M2C-185-A specification.) This [DEXRON III/MERCON] became the recommended fluid for all Ford automatic transmissions sold in North America beginning with the 1988 model year. It [DEXRON III/MERCON] is also recommended, retroactively, for earlier models requiring either DEXRON II or Ford Type H Fluid.

If it's supposed to take a thin ATF type fluid, I would check out Redline D4 ATF which is a Dextron III/Mercon/Mercon V application. It has a lot of other applications. Call Dave (tech person) at Redlineoil.com and ask him specifically. Why Redline? It has GL-4 level of antiwear additives (yellow metal safe too) which you won't find in many ATFs.
