There is a big retaining ring that holds the top part of the pump/sender assembly into the tank. It unscrews. About 10 minutes before you reinstall the retaining ring start soaking it in really hot water. It makes the installation much easier.
Once you remove the retaining ring and lift the top part of the pump/sender out you'll be able to see the pump. Squeeze the locking tabs on both sides of the pump and pull the pump out. The locking tabs hold the pump into the bracket in the bottom of the tank.

Thanks, I did manage to get it out fianlly, But the idea about soking thr ring is great, Once I install the new pump I will try that. I wondered if that came off that hard.
In that case any idea why I would suddenly be losing power. I thought it was a fuel filter, wasnt that, I thought there was something in the tank, I would let it sit about a half hour and it would run fine, after that it was like the engine was starving for fuel. I was pulling hills at 25 mph. I hit passing gear and I would actually slow down until I let off the gas until the engine picked back up again. I am thinking it is my fuel pump. I have the tank out, Theres not much in the tank. I have an engine code, But I dont know how to get it to blink, I was going to replace the pump and see what happens from there.Any Idea's
Sounds like a good place to start. You could check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Under idle it might be fine, but if you hit the throttle and the fuel pressure drops, you know you've got a fuel pressure problem.
