I was planning on using hard lines for my fuel system mod. Has anybody done this? If so, what kind of material did you go with. I was thinking of using 3/8 steel brake lines.
The main issue I can think of is dropping the tank after doing that. You'd have to have a way to get the lines off, or make it so they drop with the tank. If you run flexible fuel line you can just make them longer so there is slack to move the tank up and down
I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I was refering to running the lines into the back of the heads, and using hard lines for all my Engine compartment fuel system mods.
I was considering that too, then finally went with hose and fittings because I didn't want to end up with something rigid that would be hard to manipulate anytime I'm working in the area. I think ITPdiesel has a kit that uses hard line to hose connections. Could always look at that then call Dennis and find out what size the hard lines are if you decide to go all hard line route. I will look for the link.
It's been done, I read a post not very long ago about it, I can't remember for sure but I think it was over at TDS. I think the guy used 1/4" stainless steel.
Make sure to use stainless and not galvinized line, diesel will dissolve the zinc and it will accumulate on your injector tips.
Thanks fellas. I'm going to go the "hard" way. That's how the JD 8.1L is at work for our back up fire pump, our Cat 3208 for the Generator is the same also. Chicken coop is almost done so I'll be able to start on the Truck.

I remember you saying "Rain or Shine". And yesterday was definatly not shining.
Are the brake lines glavinized? Just be careful about using anything that has a coating on the lines (for the inside of the tank) or especially any type of coating on the inside of the line. The coating could flake off and get into the fuel.

LOL........This Condo....I mean coop is kicking my tail. Geez I could have bought my JT chip with what I've got tied up into this thing so far. Half of my supplies were free too!

Thanks, I checked the 3/8 brake lines I bought at Cut-Rate Auto, they're galvanized on the outside but don't look like it on the inside. But now I'm scared, so I will try to source some SS.
