What do I need to do to replace the drivers side window motor in my 97 f150? Do you need special tools? or just pull the panel loose from the door replace and motor and push the panel back on. Or is there plastic clips that are going to break off?
Thanks Earl
To get the door anel off is pretty easy. Pull the plastic pieces off just above the door panel around the window frame. Under you should see 2 black push pins. Push on the center untill it clicks then pull them out. Then remove the cover and un bolt the door handle. Then lift the door panel up and it should come right out, be sure to disconnect the power buttons and the light, not sure but in some Fords the motor is riveted in. If so drill the rivets out and replace with 1/4 20 bolts or something simmilar.
Thanks motor is in. had to drill out rivets. I did not get the bolts in the motor part just the four other ones. but was very suprised how easy the door panel came off .
thanks agian Earl
I have a 97 F150 with power windows at 193,000 miles. I am glad to hear that removing the driver door panel was easy. I figure that I will be replacing my window motor(s) on both sides. Yesterday morning when I tried to put my order in on the drive-thru, the driver window didn't go down... just clicked under the dash.
I fiddled with the power mirror switch checking to see if it was working and then tried the driver window again. It starting working again but I quickly raised the window again because it was starting to rain.
