I'm at a point in my rebuild where I need to decide on the seats. Specifically, do I have my bench seat recovered or find a set of seats from a later year model? Since I'm going to use this as a daily driver I'd like seats that give really good back support. At the same time, I'd like to be able to just bolt in and go. Any thoughts?
I've read that, but really I was wondering if anyone has a specific recommendation for seats with lower back support. I drive quite a distance to work and don't want to feel like I've been beaten up by the time I get there.
Ton, There wasn't a lot of attention placed on truck seats until recent years. What one user could be happy with another wouldn't, so it's hard to recommend. Arm rests are a good thing, some have cup holders.
Don't over look the Bronco, a lot of them were specked up and things like seats from them can be found pretty cheap.
I installed an 92 XLT seat in my 71 F350 just by switching the bottom of the rail, it bolted up in the orginal holes. Can`t beat it for comfort, has a centre arm rest and power lumbar.
Tonpartain, I ran into these same questions and decided on later model F150 seats. When I went to find them in the wrecking yards they all wanted new money for them so I found some aftermarket seats priced right and put them in. Pics in gallery. I just wanted you to have some more choices here. Good luck Charles

I like that seat, especially the way the contour seems to match the rear of the truck perfectly. I put bucket seats in mine out of a 85 Cougar, but the back of the seat hits the gas tank, while there is still 2 inches of travel left at the top of the seat before it hits the window. Yours looks like it makes better use of the space. It looks good.
Spring for seats with an adjustable lumbar support. Different people have different views on later Ford seats, if you have broad shoulders you should probably avoid the mid-90s seats, unless you can find a set of the fully adjustable ones with the air lumbar support. Most of the others really start getting uncomfortable after a couple hours.

Jared, Any suggestions for wide shoulders and a big tool shed roof?
I just installed a 96 Chevy (I know) Silverado 60/40 bench seat in my 68 F250 4x4. I had to modify the mounts to work with the Ford floor, but is a nice seat and fit rather well. It has a power lumbar and a fold down armrest.
Well, I used to run Subaru seats in my 84 F-250, I drove that from CT to WA with suspension so stiff the body panel alignment was off when I got here, no back problems.
I have a different set I am putting into my 72, both sets were from 86-88 GL 4x4 wagons, with adjustable lumbar on the driver's side.
