Seat replacement recommendations

I'm looking at either recovering or replacing my bench seat in my 66 f100.

If I replace it, I'd like to go with something that has a center fold down console.

Any recommendations on what seat from what truck will fit in the 66 without too much modifications?

The seats from 65 on thru the 80's and possibly 90's are of the same width, except with the 65-66 one of the arm rest will have to be removed if intend to tilt seat forward to gain access to the tank area. Will need to swap seat tracks from the 66 to the donor seat. Believe it's possible to mix and match backs to bench?

If not concerned about keeping the truck original then suggest swapping for a later version to your taste, IMO the 65-66 bench was not designed for comfort. Another option would be buckets seats. I Swapped 87 Lariat seats, with the center fold down, imagine referred to as 40-20-40, to the 65. In my case the Lariat seats had a head rest extension but since I wanted the top of the seat to come to the bottom of the rear window I removed it. Basically consisted of share shaped thin sheet metal. Also removed passenger side arm rest since figured in event need to tilt seat forward it would be more convenient to do so from driver's side??

Suggest wait for additional input, there are a number of member's who have done some amazing modifications to the interior of the rides; to include featured in popular magazine; hopefully will chime-in with some suggestions and pic's.

I have a 89 seat from a Ford pickup in my 66. Just use the 66 seat tracks; simple bolt in.

So pretty much any seat out of any full size ford truck will work?

I have been told up to 1996. I used the 66 seat tracks and they bolted right together. I also have a 1979 pickup tilt steering column to go with the power steering and disc brakes. It was shortened for more belly room and the steering box has a longer shaft than the original. Power windows from Auto electric and ABS headliner from Just Interiors rounds out what has been done so far in the cab

Rusty,

Do you have a link for the Just Interiors? My headliner is gone, but I'd really like to put an ABS one in.

Sounds like you have done everything I want to do to mine.

I used a Lariat bench from a 96. Had to use the seat brackets from the 66 and the sliders from the 96 easy swap and a fold down center arm rest as well as electric lumbar supports. Comfy compared to the 66 with no foam.

How about a '64? Will it fit? Or are they too different?

Also, is there a bench or bucket seats that have seat belts included or does that must be added?

Can't say for certain, would seem the tracks and width would be an issue but if memory serves me a member mentioned installing a later bench in his 64 with some slight modification??? Suggest wait for another member to chime in who is more familiar with the 61-64 seat upgrade??
