I put a single inlet, dual outlet muffler in place of the extension pipe in front of where the original muffler was, ran dual 3" pipes out from there just in front of the right rear tire. Cost me $280 bucks complete. Has a REALLY DEEP rumble/drone at idle to 1,400 rpm, then goes dead quite after that (sounds cool going though parking lots, but can't be heard at all going down the road), its ideal to me!!!
Improved throttle responce a little bit. By the "feel of the seat", I'd say about five or ten more HP.
And having put a little over 400 miles on the truck since doing it, I'm getting about .8 mpg better under all conditions (empty babying it, romping on it, or towing 10,000 lbs.)
It also got rid of about half of the @#@$ ticking noise since several heat sheilds are now gone. (main reason I did it!)
BTW: This is the only mod. I've done to the truck that would effect performance at all. It's an '06, auto..
It's video, the sound is what you want, but watching the steam coming out in pulses from the tailpipe is priceless... so much for a restrictive catalytic converter...

Wish you had a sound clip.

Steam = ? BAD GOOD
I'm not a mechanic. I'm not even sure if I spelled it right ?!?!?!?!/ lol
Steam is okay. It's a product of the hydrocarbon combustion process. You can only see it when conditions are right such as a cool morning before the exhause system warms up. When everything is up to temperature the water vapor exits as an invisible gas.
esp.the rear tires we where at a test and tune track rental today haveing fun. with a camaro with a 576 2x4 carbed and dual nox hit.
playing around got the tow beast to do 16.2. with the stock reflash just done. now if i can get a copy of it and tuner play with it on my lap top with sct's proracer program.
