Anyone in hear have any majior damage? I know our "bone pile" was in lowland area and several vehicles were swamped. There were a 65 & 66 cabs that have watere p[retty much halfway up the doors. Our International 914 combine still has water up to the axle. Our old 2000 gal. steel water tank floated to the other side of the slough.
I know back home in the Sturgis area there is allot of flooding. Dad's had the Louisville going non stop for the last few weeks fixing and try to save roads before they wash out. When the Assiniboine river got flowing it took out every culvert and little bridge for 30 some miles.
No flood damage here that I have seen yet, we`re higher up on a hill and in sand. Not too much water flowing in the Saskatoon area, just lots of pot holes. Neighbour`s farmyard did get alot of water running thru it again this spring, same as last year and the road beside them had to be dug up to release the water to prevent major damage.
The only flooding here is what I get every spring thaw. The water washes over my driveway and down the road to a low area that the main raod goes through which was flooded across this year and is still very spongy. Every year I have been here, I have been noticing the roadway slowly sinking. I hope the R.M. builds it up this year. As for my driveway. I have plans to build a new one with culverts. Everyone out here has no culverts, but I will. Because of the spring thaws runs over it.
This isn't flooding, but every spring there is a spot in my lane that gets VERY spongy. My PSD sinks down about 8 inches every time I drive across it. It springs back most of the way, but there are some ruts. It's not muddy, just soft and spongey. Every year I put a bucket or 2 of gravel on this spot, but it only helps for a little bit.
Today they came with the grator and smoothed it out again. It will be all lumpy by the afternoon. It needs to be built up. Maybe they will do that this year. They did the next road over last year and it was not sinking. Go figure.
66 the sure way to get your road fixed is to get on the RM council. You will have it built up and gravel in no time, and they pay you for being on the board which means more fun money for you trucks.
I don't own enough land. Just 40 acres. That makes mean acreage owner. Not a farmer.
I think you have to own a 1/4 section before trying to be elected to council. Besides I do not want that job. 25 years in the hospital dealing with politics there is enough B.S. It will get done, I know one of the councilmen.
