I believe my machinist said around 9 or so. I was not so concerened with as I should of been, I just read alot from the forum and trusted the machinist and it seems to be a good solid motor haven't been able to really lay into it yet.
So I am finally going to get the Silvolite 1131 pistons (which as I understand is actually a 360 piston). As far as I understand, these with the rods and crank from a 390, and a Mr. Gasket steel shim head gasket (Summit part no. MRG-1132) would get me a compression ration of around 9.5 or so...I can live with that.
Last question (bearing any unforseen gremlins that will show up no doubt) is the difference in the piston bushing. It stated that the 1131 were pressed in, but will these work with the stock 90 rods. Again I am showing my ignorance, but I am still young enough to pass that off. Besides this is my first rebuild on anything with more than 2 cylinders.
No FE in the history of man has ever used pressed pins. They are held by two Tru-Arc's (little snap ring looking things) in the piston on either side of the wrist pin. You'll probably want to get new bushings put in the connecting rods.
