Ok whats the trick? Am trying to disable the seat belt buzzer and automatic door lock on my 2004 6.0 as per the owners manual. Won't work. Need advice.
You could just disconnect the wiring harness going to the seat belt on the drivers side. It has been reported that the owners manual instructions arent the right ones. I know that on my 05, the manual says to perform a step 9 times, when in fact 10 worked for me. Im sure another user will be along to add more information, but unplugging the harness is guaranteed to work.
Hrmm, I did not look in the manual for the process but searched on here. I followed the steps per FTE and the light still works but the anoying little buzzer is gone. It was pretty easy but I do not remember the exacts. Something liek within 15 seconds of putting the key in buckle and unbuckle 8 times, wait 3 secoinds, a light will flash then buckle and unbuckle one more time to toggle the on/off status.
Long story short, do a search in the Super Duty forums and it will work for you... well it did for my '05.
I believe this is called the belt minder system. It can be disabled by following the steps in the manual. I did this in my wifes taurus and it worked. You still get the light and sound indications when you first start the car but it eliminates the warnings that occur afterwards. In my superduty I unpluged the harness under the driver's seat and there are no warnings at all.
I tried to disable the seat belt minder on my 06' F-350, by the instuctions in the manual, did it several times,,,damn thing still bugs me,,,think I will look for the plug under the seat this am !
The instructions in the manual worked for my '02. I think it was 9 times and you have to turn the headlights on and off in there also. Can't remember exactly but your dealer would probably be able to help if you give him the VIN.
LOL,,I do wear my seatbelt, but if I stop to get out, for a sec , truck running the damn thing went nuts,,,but I just fixed that,,the plug under the seat works !
HA,,I just unpluged the wire under the seat,,,all better now,,thanks texascadillac42,,
What a great site ,,,,,Later,,,,,Mark
My year ('04) and other years I suspect use a ballistic tensioner for the seat belt to snug up the belt in the event of an accident. I wonder if it will still function if you disconnect the wire???
yes, it should. a long time ago back in middle school i remember an accident protection and awareness day. the guy showed how the ballistic locker worked. there is a mechanism with a pendulum-shaped lever that moves fore and aft under acceleration and braking. when the pendulum swings forward enough (due to enough negative G's) it will lock the belt. i believe it is all mechanical and not electronic. my 2006 seems over-reactive, because it even locks up when hitting bumps with a trailer in tow.

I am not referring to the inertial lock, I am talking about the buckle pretensioner. I could try to explain it, but this web site does a fine job at it http://www.autoliv.com/appl_alv/Auto..._pretensioners. I wonder if this device will work if that wire is disconnected. My truck has one similar to the one on the bottom of the page.
For me, I worry about the liability of doing that. Better to be safe than sorry.
