at work, on anything that's straight or miter cut, we put coffee cans on them. It's not as critical on a pickup, where you have a bunch of piping under the truck, but on a machine where the stack comes straight up out of the exhaust manifold or turbo, you really don't want it to fill with water. You don't want to encourage corrosion in the turbo, or even, possibly, hydraulic lock in the engine if very much gets down past an open exhaust valve.

Now from what i understand about exhaust... i thought that big pipes= good power in the high end power. and on the smaller side, say a 4 inch pipe or so would be better flow end torque. Im i just confused or is that right?

Oh yeah... DUDE!!! can i have your truck? i know you dont really want it anymore... lol

well, from what i noticed after going from the stock exhaust to the 4" downpipe and 6" the rest of the way back was a drop in the low end power, but no noticable difference in the high end. at least for turbodiesels, the larger pipe helps with keeping the exhaust temps down and helps to prolong the life of the turbo. this al helps with the high horsepower upgrades. i could have gone with 4 or 5 inch pipes, but i wanted to be a little different and put 6" on. plus i think they look good and sound good too

i never thought about the future planning up grades for more HP, or the exhuast temps. but i think a 6 in pipe is good for you. but for me, i like all the towing power i can get, we pull a 30 foot horse trailor loaded with horses or cows... so low end is more important the high end. but i still like your truck! can wait till Ford is puttin the cummins in their trucks!

thanks for the compliments but you still can't have my truck lol. for most people, a free flowing 4" exhaust is plenty. with that and a chip, you shouldn't have any problems toting that 30 footer around

Ive got a 51 Dodge Power Wagon... I wana put a Cummins in it, with the straight pipe dual 6" stacks on! now im sorry, but that would be even cooler then your truck! lol in a diff way of course. since a Power Wagon looks like a mimi-semi-truck.

I was checking out your pics, thats a pretty trick splitter box you have for the stacks. Did you make or have it made, or did it come with a kit or something? I also didn't see any mufflers, did you miss them in the pics or is the sound as mother nature intended?

the splitter box is 100% custom stainless steel designed by me and built by my dad. What's a muffler? hehe i've been running without a cat or muffler for about 3 years now. i love the sound

That is sweet, looks awesome, bet it sounds just as good. I dont run mufflers either, loud pipes save lives.
