putting bulldog tranny in 6-cylinder

I have a 1970 f100 with a 240 6cylinder. It currently has a 3-speed on the column and i bought a 4-speed bulldog out of about a 1975 ford with a 360 v8 in it. I was wondering if the 4-speed would bolt up to the 6-cylinder bell-housing or if i am goin to have to get bell-housing off of the 360? Also i was just wondering if they ever put a 4-speed bulldog transmission in a short-wheelbase, 2-wheeldrive, six cylinder? Thanks

LOOK AT YOUR BELLHOUSING AND SEE IF THERE ARE 2 SETS OF BOLT HOLES FOR THE TRANNY. oops, sorry bout the caps. i think the 3 speed had a smaller bolt pattern. if all else fails grab some bellhousings at tha salvage and see if you can find one to fit.

Jim, There are three family bells used by Ford. The round top is used by the FE family 360, 390 etc. The flat top 385 family 429, 460, 351M has an 8" spread in the top two bolts. The small block I-6, 302, 351W, 351C has a 5" spread between the top bolts.
hope this helps
