I'm in the market for a new amplifier. Anybody got any recommendations? I like to play rock, country, and blues so it has to be a versitile amp. I'm thinking about a Marshall but I also kinda like the Line 6s. I'd appreciate any help on this matter.
Also, anyone here play slide guitar? I'm trying to learn how to play it on a steel-bodied dobro (which has an awesome sound) but it has me tearing my hair out I'm so frustrated. So if anyone has any tips or tricks I'd be eternally grateful.
Geez Rednek, you should have looked up my amp on ebay. no one else wanted it.lol
and its good for what you are looking for one for, not top line like a Marshall, but its good for starting, and its a crisp sound. Its a Crate thats a few years old, but hardly been used. When I used to play, I used it for rock and blues with a little country mixed in and I never had a problem. And it was nice for jam sessions with the guys because we could all plug into it being that it was a 4 channel. Drop me an IM if you are interested at all. Maybe we can do some dealing.
Line 6 is good, i play on one of my friends, but i like marshall as well. What size/price range u lookin at? If u just want a small amp ive got one ill sell, needs a fuse and maybe some other parts but it works, and is like brand new.
Crate is good, Marshall is pretty much top of the line for rock, but I'm not sure a marshall would work that well for blues and country. Also look at peavey. Their guitars suck, but their amps are awesome. Fender makes an excellent amp as well.
If you want that warm bluesy sound, go to a swap meet or flea market and pick up an old tube fender or ampeg amp from the 60's or 70's. You can't beat their sound!
I bought a Fender Blues Deluxe. Best amp I have ever played...Hands Down! It is great for everything. All tube. The distortion isn'tthat good but everyone has their own favorite distortion pedal anyway.
I'm not worried so much about the price range as the quality of sound. However, I don't want to pay $1k for an amp that I can't make sound like I want. I would love to have an OLD Fender tube amp but I'm a little partial to Fender anything. I've got a little practice amp that I hate. So now I want something a good bit bigger. Maybe not a whole stack, but a half stack would be nice or maybe even a little overkill.
93F250, what kind of effects pedal do you run with that Fender? I just got an Ibanez Tube Screamer the other day and I love it.
I use a Tube Screamer and a Dunlap Cry Baby. If I need a little more distortion, I use a DigiTech pedal board but the Tube Screamer and the distortion channel on the amp are enough for my needs. The pedal board kills some of the tone though. The more pedals you use, the worse it gets.
I like Marshalls too but I fell in love with this Fender the first time I played one. It is hard to beat Marshalls for real hard rock. Mesa Boogie's are nice too but save your $.
i dont remember what model it was but a buddy had a fender twin not real big it had an awesome sound at the time we were playing classic rock/country it sounded really good
