Truck leaning

I just replaced both the rear leaf springs after finding out my rear shackle bracket was rusted through. I changed both rear brackets and shackles, I replaced front right bracket,(left was ok). I also put on 4 new shocks. My truck still sits a bit uneven the left being about 1 1/2 inches lower.... Any other Ideas what to look at to straighten it out?
Its a 96 F 150 extended cab 302 auto 2wd.

one or both of the shocks may be bad.

rear springs not a matched pair.

frame rail rusted or bent.

tires not matched or inflation off on one tire.

no magic answer, sorry.

Shocks don't control ride height, so you can rule those out. Everything else is a good place to start.

i disagree.

what if one is broken at mounting point.

if you took out one shock and left the other your truck would not sit level.

i had broken a top mount on my ranchero gt and that side went down.

I can compress shocks with my hands without trying too hard. There's no way a shock is going to exert enough force between the frame and the suspension to lift one side of a 4000lb truck an inch and a half.

Controlling ride height is not a shock's job. They are there to absorb the oscillating motion created by the springs. They do not bear any of the weight of a vehicle (we are talking about shocks, not struts, remember).

You can take all the shocks off your truck on one side. It will ride like crap (and probably be dangerous) but it will still sit level.

You might also want to think about how your are determining that you are an 1" 1/2 off.
My truck looks like it's about that off, but it's b/c the bumber is a little twisted.

I would double check by mesuaring from the frame to a bubble level that has been shimmed up so that it is level.

if your truck has torsion bars than you can crank up the left side so it sits level

None of our trucks (87 to 96) came with torsion bars.

I don't know you from Adam, so don't take offense.....

When you did the springs-were the springs and shackle sets from the same year/body style and were they a pair? (hey-parts stores screw up too)

When you say your truck sags to one side-what are you using for reference?
If the bumper, check that the bumper is level. If the truck is leaning in the back due to suspension, it should lean in the front as well. have you checked the front springs? I'd get on a flat spot and measure all 4 corners.

Did you check the body donuts (or whatever those things are called) under the bed and cab?
