My 2003 Excursion with 77K miles on 6.0L / Torqshift has an unusual problem. The indicator on the steering column is "off" by about one (1) indication. When it is in Park, it indicates "R". When it is in Drive, it indicates "3".
I assume there is some sort of problem with the shift linkage, but don't know where to start in diagnosing / fixing this.
Do any of you out there with powerstroke diesel have similar problem? Can you advise how to fix?
This happened on my former '94 Bronco..and I saw the same adjuster on my '05 Ex..so I'd bet yours is the same.
Remove the fuse panel cover in front of your knees. There is a small wheel with what looks like a string that goes up to the indicator. By turning this wheel, you can adjust where the needle indicates on the PRDNL. You may have to search a bit...but it's a small black "wheel" that has a string going though it. I think it was on an angle on the column about where the column meets the dash.
Forest....I think it just drifts. I mean, my truck has 12,000 miles since Jan 05 and it's just starting to need to be touched. Maybe bumps and the like cause slight movement.
