I have a 75 F250 A friend of mine gave a set of guages (oil, temp, amp) well I knew how to hook up the oil and temp but I have no idea on the amp guage ...can anyone help me out ?
usually the 3 gauge set has oil, temp, and voltage...not amps. For voltage one side of the gauge gets 12 switched power...only on when switch is on...and the other side gets grounded. For an amp meter usually you measure the amp draw of the accessories only...not the amp draw when you're starting...still not difficult to wire but you need to know what you're doing for the amp meter.
Thanks guys ..so what ...it isn't reading the amps??? just the amms? I thought it was a measurement of the amperes? Sounds like I would be better off with a volt meter than to mess around with the ammeter. If I do decide to hook up the ammeter what guage wire will it require?I have no instructions on this stuff.
There ya go...I humbly apologize for bringing up the voltmeter stuff. As long as your alternator can't put out more than 60 amps then you can use this. Check Dennis's link out above...that's how to hook it up.
