Thumbs up Oh yeah!

Hey guys, I finally got my PSD cherry popped and I love it!

After months of reading and researching and hunting for "my truck", I'm now driving my dream rig and pimping in my green machine.

I have a steady diet of mods planned and I started with the kwikk filter. Next is an exhaust either 4"duals or a 5" cannon probably straight piped. After that it's gauges and some tranny mods like either a VB or sonnex and sooner or later a DP flip chip. Somewhere in there a leveling kit is planned too.

Meanwhile I'm reading up on all the other behind the scenes mods I can do like the fuel line mods (I got me a cackler) and the CCV mod etc. I'll try to tackle some of them when time allows.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who've helped with my questions and that make this forum the great resource and safety net that it is.

Glad to hear it and welcome to PMS. Now go straight down to the bank and get a loan or second mortgage along with a second job.

BTW, did you ever request the previous owner contact info from the dealer and how did that go?

Taxachussetts, I love it. That's what my Dad used to call it.

Thanks for the replies all.

Pics will be forthcoming. I have to get out and buy a new cam first but right now I can't get my head around spending money on anything but "improvements" for my truck. Imagine that.

I actually registered it myself and got the owner contact info off the title. The guy lives about 45 mins away and i called and left a message yesterday. Hoping for a call back but nothing as yet. I may try him again in a few days.

Geez, when my ex and I split i thought I was done with PMS for awhile, but looks like I'll be having my own version of it and aside from the price, I'm sure it'll be far more enjoyable.

BTW, here is a link to my post last week if anyone is curious about it.

thanks guys. Guages are up there on the list for sure. As a matter of fact i have someone interested in my old beater GMC k1500 and I think the proceeds from that sale are going towards guages and exhaust.

On a side not I filled up last wednesday night @ $2.89 per gallon. I'm @ half a tank now with ~280 miles on the trip meter. Do these tanks empty out pretty even or do they fly through the last half of the tank like my Sierra did?

Thanks

It's been my experience with Fords, and I've had plenty, that first half of the tank seems to last forever but then it flies like you said below half. My PSD is not one of those, although it does seem to go a little quicker on the last half. I think it is more because I pay more attention to it then.

Mine stays pretty even....about 300 miles on each side of the fuel gauge.

I believe it's a 28 gal? I just haven't had the time when I thought about it to go out there and see.

mine seems to be the opposite... i get more miles on the bottom half of the tank... but it is wierd... the needle will hardly move for the first 70 miles or so... then bang, i'm at 3/4 of a tank.. then it will fly to half... then i'll get a good 50 miles or so more on the bottom half of the gauge, but it will suddenly drop way below "E" from a little above it... it is very consistant in this so i have just gotten used to it... i'm sure i've got a messed up sender, but i don't really worry about it... every other gauge on the dash is useless... why should the fuel gauge be any different..!!! lol..!!!

Shortbox trucks normally have the 29gallon tank and longbox usually have the 38gallon. I say usually cuz thi could have been changed. MIne is the 29gallon tank and if I fill it until i can see the diesel in the tube, the needle will not even move until after 150miles or so. I will be at ~300 by half a tank and when I hit 380-400 its still above the .25 mark a bit but that is where I fill up. ~20 gallons every time.

I have never seen the fuel light come on and I have never run out of fuel. I plan to keep it that way.
