i would say in this situation your biggest factor will be gear ratio, if the ranger has 3.73 (which i doubt) it mite be considerably higher than the f150, but if the f150 is runnin 3.73 and the ranger 4.10 there wont be much difference, nothing over 5 i would say
dang wendell...they really upped the mileage on the 4.0L since 1994. Mine is rated for 16/19, I get 15/18 (leadfoooooooootttt). '94 XLT reg cab, 2WD, 4.0L OHV, 5 speed stick, 3.08s.
I've been fortunate, my truck has allways been pretty decent, even when stock, but ranger mpg seems to be all over the place, it depends on who you talk to. I know my 4.0 sohc for sure gets better mpg, than did my 2000 4.0 ohv.
I'm still glad I get decent mileage (I'd call 15/18 decent), as opposed to the guys running large engines, older trucks, etc.

Tell me about it! I haven't driven the '64 F250 for over two months, I couldn't take it's 8mpg. Thanks 390ci and 4.56's! Still truckin' in the Bronco, though with 12 mpg. At least the Bronco has a huge tank so it doesn't seem like your are using that much gas until you fill up. But it's not getting driven that much.
