like a lot of folks on here i too am having trouble removing my stock pitman arm. i have rented pullers and beat on it to no avail. i don't have access to torches or air tools. i am planning on taking my bronco to a shop that has been known for building 4X4s. i am hoping they can pull off the pitman arm and just have the big nut hold it on enough for me to get it back home. my question is, what if i brought these guys my drop pitman arm for my suspension lift. without the lift on could i put the dropped one on and still be able to steer home?
I could not get mine off when I installed lift on my bronco. If you have the nut off and u are careful u can cut through it witha 4'' grinder and cutting wheel.Just be careful not to cut into the knurles and then just hit it with a big chisel and hammer .It should just be enough to get it loose.
Have you got access to a hardware store? The simple Bernz-o-matic torches for sweating copper pipe will generate enough heat to help get the arm moving. Heat the arm itself and if necessary hold an ice pack to the end of the sector shaft on the steering box for a few seconds. This should swell the arm and shrink the shaft. (Sounds like a terrible thing to have happen personally but thats another topic for a more adult forum).

this is actually the best way to do it without damaging your shaft this is how the ford dealerships do it (pullers break easy)
