1979 F360 decoding help...

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help with a couple of codes on a '79 F350 4X4.

Body code of KT4 - I can find reference to it here on the boards, but not a definition.

Mystery code on bottom right of tag (below axle code) - B83755

Axle code 37A - Does this mean Dana 60 front and back? The 'A' just decodes as power steering I believe.

Any words of wisdom appreciated.

Thanks,
Allan

Probably the best place to look is on Dennis' decoder page:

Thanks for that,

I did see that page. It does seem to decode the 'K' in the KT4, but not the T4 part of the body code.

As for the axle codes, it does have definitions, but it refers to only the rear axle code of 37. Front axle code of A just mentions tilt wheel and power steering. So I'm just trying to confirm that the front axle would be the same as the back axle on this truck.

The B83755 is in the DSO code area, but is too many digits. It is a Canadian truck, don't know if that would matter or not.

Thanks,
Allan

Update:

Thanks to the recomended page, it does look like the mystery code in the DSO area is actually a Special Order Number (which this truck was).

KT4
The K is the type of interior. The K being Broadcloth/Vinyl Bench seat w/the LGO trim (Possibly Black silver/orange ? )
The T is for the colour of the interior (obviously new for 79.
The 4 is styleside box

Th A in 37A means it has power steering and an adjustable column (Tilt column)

The B8 is the region of Canada = B8 is unknown to me.
B6 is more apt to be it.

The numbers following are the actual order number.

If the front axle has ball joints it is a D44HD. If it has kingpins it is a D60. Kingpins would have 4 bolts holding the steering arm on the knuckle. The 44 will have 3 bolts holding the steering arm to the knuckle.
