Anyoe have any info on the Cyclone Fan and controller.I wanted to buy it for my truck, but i cant seem to find it on the internet.Well i found it,just no price.Does anyone know how much they cost. And any info on this fan clutch and controller would be great.
Thanks
If you have plans for towing in your future, I have very serious doubts on it's ability to keep up with demand. Or at the very least your alternators ability to keep up with the electrical load that would happen while pulling that big hill.
No i dont plan on towing, well maybe a small boat, but nothing to big.I just want it to help out with my A/C,cause i am constuction and during the summer months,i sit in the truck. The A/C gets warmer the hotter it gets.I did install AIC,which helped alot, but i think if i can keep the fan running, the A/C would get colder. As it does when i am moving.
Am i going in the right direction here or what.
I did alittle reading on it and there are to sensers, one to the trany and the other to the coolant.
I think it would do good.
from looking at the pics it's not a electric fan it a a/c compressor clutch mounted to the water pump pulley then it locks the clutch when the fan is needed so it is simply a magnetic clutch that you bolt your fan to. it take sthe idea from big rigs that use a clutch design that is engage by air pressure.
since its a direct lock up to the pulley i could see this being a very good product. the stock fan clutch never locks up solid that i know of so when cooling is needed this setup will spin at the same rpm as the water pump pulley therefore should draw more air than the stock setup at the same engine rpm
I misunderstood what that fan was. I was thinking an electric motor driven fan. The cyclone would be great IMO.
The only misgiving I have about this setup is when it comes on, it's 100% and you'll really feel it. Also the serpentine belt and tensioner had better be in perfect shape or it's going to slip.
yep i think your right on that part kwik. its all or nothing and the belt will feel the strain.
The way the site explains it,you have a choice which operation you want the fan to do.
1)There is auto (the fan only comes on at preset operating temps)
2) pedel postion when you get off the go pedel it comes on,only below a certain speed.
3) super cool mode in which the fan is alway locked in,i think that would be hard on the belt.
And the fan has this computer in it that no matter what,if the temps get up to a preset limit, the computer warns you that you have a problem and locks the fan to the on position.
The only problem that i see,is if the fan turns on while you are going down the highway. That will cause alot of stress on the belt. But like i said they have options on how you set it.
If anyone has one of these set ups i would like to hear your opinons.
Blueeyes, I've never driven or ridden in a truck that has the Cyclone installed. However, here in Seattle the garbage trucks have a similar system on thier trucks. I know because I can hear them come on two blocks away and driving away from me. They come on 100% and you can hear the fan HOWLING.
Personally I would not purchase such a system for my truck unless they had a way of duty cycling the fan clutch on an as needed basis, much in the same way that the clutch fan already behaves on the stock setup.
Just wondering what temperature does it turn the fan on and off at. Looks like a good setup to me, since I think my clutch is acting up, cheaper than a new one.
