hey flatheaders
been away a long time. I asked this once before but didnt receive any feedback.
if memory serves, ford once offered flathead or yblock as options in the same vehicles. later they offered yblock and fe block as options in the same truck.
if this is correct, it seems that an feblock should fit in place of a flathead with the correct parts juggling. any comments???
DAN :
No Dan, the flathead is unique in motor mounts and tranny mounts - nothing else will bolt up. Also they did not offer both flathead and Y-block at the same time in the same model. What you're probably confusing is the fact that the cubes for a flatty are 239 and one of Ford's first Y-blocks was also 239 cid. OR the first Y-blocks appeared in the big trucks (F7 and F8) at the same time the flathead was being used in F1 thru F6's.
