anyone running disc front and drum back, have my residual valves and porportioning valve in correctly, but the brakes feel real hard, just slowing me down, not stopping like it should, any ideals. thanks
I'm running disc front and drum rears on my 49. I mounted the power booster and master cylinder on the firewall along with a proportioning valve. I did not install any residual pressure valves. I think you only need them if your mastery cylinder is lower than the wheel cylinders or calipers.
Are the valves installed in the right direction? maybe they are not allowing enough pressure through to the calipers/wheel cylinders. Can you lock the brakes up?
i have the booster under the cab on the frame rails. i do have residual valves in the right direction. when i bled the brakes the fluid came out pretty strong. the brakes will not lock up. not even close. do you really need the residual valves.
I think you do in your situation since your master cylinder is lower than the wheel cylinders and calipers.
Do you know what diamet the piston bore is of your master cylinder? I know that will effect the whole system. I think if the master cyulinder is too large it will increase pedal effort but don't quote me on that. Did you buy a system that was made specifically for your truck? The vendor might be able to help you out also
Contact either the vendor that you got the parts from or the manufacturer and explain what you have going on. Maybe they sent you the wrong parts or the parts were mislabeled or something like that. Most companies have a pretty good customer/tech support area
i have a volare front end w/discs and stock drums on the rear and i'm not sure i could lock up on ice. meaning my brakes suck! i have the power booster from the volare but no joy on the stopping. that's on my 57 f100. ?
