After researching the net and not finding what I want, I will ask the forum yet another vin number question. On my frame is stamped f26dp65255. I now know f26 is for a F250 4x4 but is it possible to tell what year it is ? I have no body parts to check.
Frank, it looks like you are missing a digit on the end. The numbering for these trucks started at 100,001 in October of '60, and ended at 914,000 in August of '66. If yours is a 65255x like it should be, then yours was made in February '65.
Which means the following:
f26 - = F250 4x4
d = 352 V8
p = St. Paul, MN assembly plant
65255x = February '65
All that I have is the frame of the truck, no body parts. I purchased 4 trucks with several parts including a 4x4 cab but could not locate any numbers, mind you the cab was 200ft away and may not belong to this frame. I found my numbers on the right side of the frame above the axel and under the rust found what appears to be a 4. So the new number is f26dp652554
That frame is from a 1965 F250 4x4. If the cab you have is from a 4x4, it will have the battery box under the passenger floor with the removable lid in the floor, the step up floor, the steering column through the floor and not the dash and if its still there, the four spoke steering wheel. All of those things were also present on the F350s.
